A solar farm is simple to run once it is built, but almost all of its cost comes before the first unit of power is sold. Developers must secure land, grid connectivity, approvals and a buyer for the power, then fund modules, inverters, mounting structures, cabling, a substation and construction. After commissioning, sunlight, plant availability, grid curtailment, tariff and how quickly the buyer pays decide whether the project repays its loans.
A professional solar farm business plan turns a site and a power deal into a clear, bankable project. It covers the land, capacity, technology, power sale model, approvals, project cost, generation, tariff, operating costs and cash flow over the life of the plant.
A well-prepared solar power plant business plan also helps when approaching banks, renewable energy lenders, investors, EPC contractors, land owners and power buyers. Existing developers can use one to add capacity, introduce battery storage or move into open access and group captive projects.
Aviaan Accounting prepares plans for farmers and landowners under government schemes, independent power producers, commercial and industrial power buyers, EPC companies and investors in renewable energy. Each plan ties generation and tariffs to a lender-ready financial model.

Solar Farm Business Plan Writing Services In India

Solar farms sell power to state distribution companies, central agencies, industries and commercial buyers, or supply their own group companies. Returns depend on sunlight at the site, land and grid access, the tariff or power price, plant availability, construction cost, financing terms and how reliably the buyer pays.
Solar is one of the fastest-growing parts of India's power sector, but each project's viability rests on its own site, buyer and contract. A solar farm business plan in India should combine official sector data with clearly stated assumptions about generation, tariff and costs.
A business plan for solar power plant in India for a 2 MW farmer-owned plant in Rajasthan looks very different from one for a 50 MW open access project in Gujarat or a solar park in Andhra Pradesh. Site, buyer and scale should shape the plan from the start.
A professional business plan for solar farm projects helps farmers and landowners under government schemes, first-time power producers, industries planning captive power, EPC companies moving into ownership and investors. Because most of the money is spent before any power is sold and loans run for many years, lenders study every assumption.
Five solar-specific issues make expert planning worthwhile.
Aviaan builds each plan around your site, capacity, buyer and financing structure.
Discuss your solar farm project with Aviaan to agree the scope of your business plan.
If you are working out how to write a solar farm business plan, follow seven steps: secure the site, choose the buyer route, design the plant, line up EPC and finance, map approvals, build a long-term model and summarise. The same order works for a solar farm startup business plan and for a wider solar energy business plan that adds storage or new sites.
Ask Aviaan to prepare your solar farm business plan for a farmer-owned plant, open access project, group captive plant or utility-scale farm.
Aviaan treats a solar plan as a long-term model of sunlight, tariff and debt. Whether you are planning a small farmer-owned plant or need a utility scale solar business plan, we connect your site, design, buyer and financing to projections a lender can test year by year.

Whether it covers a 1 MW solar power plant business plan or a much larger project, a strong plan shows how the plant will be built on time and on budget, generate as expected, sell its power on reliable terms and service its debt comfortably for the full loan tenure.
Aviaan adapts the following ten components to your project.
The same framework supports a solar park business plan, an agrivoltaic farm business plan, an open access solar business plan, a KUSUM solar plant business plan and a solar EPC business plan. The emphasis shifts with capacity, buyer route, site and financing structure.

A textile group in Tiruppur district, already running a 5 MW group captive solar farm that supplied its own spinning and knitting mills, wanted to add 10 MW and a small battery system to serve more mills. Its lender asked for a project finance proposal that showed the existing plant and the new 10 MW separately. The group's draft combined both and assumed the new site would generate as much per megawatt as the old one. It left out transmission, wheeling and other open access charges, the conditions that captive users must hold a minimum equity share and consume a minimum share of output, and the requirement to use modules from approved makers. It also treated GST on the EPC contract as recoverable, although power sales are GST-exempt, so that GST is a project cost.
The group received a complete solar farm business plan with one consistent financial model. The analysis led it to build 6 MW first with signed offtake from four mills that met the captive conditions, add the battery once storage costs fell further, and fund a six-month debt service reserve. It submitted a single, phased plan to its lender.
Here is a worked solar farm business plan sample for a landowner building a 2 MW ground-mounted plant on barren land near Bikaner, Rajasthan, and selling power to the state distribution company under a farmer-focused scheme. These are sample numbers, not a forecast.
Sale of electricity is exempt from GST, so the GST paid on the EPC contract, at an effective rate of about 8.9% under the 70:30 rule, cannot be claimed back and is included in project cost.
Next, the plan stress-tests one risk. Grid curtailment and dust cut generation by 8%, reducing income before debt to about ₹93 lakh and the coverage ratio to about 1.33. At the same time, the distribution company pays four to six months late, opening a cash gap of about ₹45 lakh.
The plan shows the fix: schedule more frequent or robotic module cleaning to recover about 3% of generation, fund a debt service reserve equal to six months of repayments, arrange a small working capital line, and use payment security and late-payment surcharge provisions in the power purchase agreement. Together these bring the coverage ratio back to about 1.4 and keep loan repayments on time. A fuller model should also account for tax, module degradation, inverter replacement and changes in land lease terms.
It is a written plan, backed by a long-term financial model, covering the site, capacity, technology, power buyer and contract, approvals, project cost, generation, tariff, operating costs, financing and returns. It helps developers present the project to lenders, investors, power buyers and scheme authorities.
It depends on capacity, land, technology, grid distance and whether storage is included. Main costs include land purchase or lease and conversion, modules, inverters, mounting structures, cabling, transformers and substation, transmission line, EPC services, GST on the EPC contract, approvals and pre-operative expenses.
Secure suitable land near a substation, choose a buyer route such as a distribution company, government scheme, auction or open access industrial buyer, and confirm connectivity. Then select an EPC contractor and equipment from approved makers, arrange project finance, obtain approvals and build a long-term financial model before signing the EPC contract.
A useful sample covers the site and sunlight assessment, plant design, buyer and tariff terms, EPC and O&M arrangements, approvals, risks and a long-term financial model. It should also explain the assumptions behind generation, degradation, operating costs, debt-service coverage, internal rate of return and payback.
Yes. Farmers and landowners setting up plants of a few megawatts under government schemes need a plan to show lenders the project cost, expected generation and income, loan repayment schedule and how the plant will handle late payments or lower generation in some years.
Yes. A solar farm business plan for bank loan applications shows the project cost, promoter equity, loan amount and tenure, generation and tariff income, debt-service coverage and security. Lenders still carry out their own technical and financial due diligence before deciding.
Common requirements include land conversion or lease approval, grid connectivity and evacuation approval, registration with the state nodal agency, a power purchase or open access agreement, and local and environmental clearances where applicable. Projects must also follow rules on approved module and cell makers. Requirements vary by state and buyer route.

A solar farm succeeds when a good site, a reliable buyer, sound engineering and well-structured finance work together. A professional solar farm business plan shows what the project will cost including GST, how much power it will generate over its life, what the tariff will earn, how comfortably it can service its debt, and what returns investors can expect. Whether you are planning a farmer-owned plant, an open access or group captive project, a solar park or a utility-scale farm, Aviaan can prepare a plan built around your site, buyer and funding goals.
